• Communications and visual design support on various projects such as reports, communications media, etc.
• Approaching unique challenges in typesetting and designing across languages including Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, French and English.

• Design lead for a number of initiatives including an internal system to support complex operational workflows for new group policy onboarding and amendments, disability case management strategy and product vision and re-envisioning the travel insurance experience.
• Other initiatives include stakeholder and cultural change management to encourage a stronger customer experience led culture enterprise-wide.

• Service and experience design lead for the discovery phase of a system replacement project for a large scale program which included assessing the opportunity areas in service design improvements across people, processes and systems.
• Designed and led problem definition, prioritization and conceptualization workshops and early proof of concepts for integrated system solutions for an end to end experience considerate of all front and back of house stakeholders.

• Led 10 product teams in education and enablement of mixed methods user research including peer to peer mentoring for designing, fulfilling and analyzing of research studies.
• Collaborated with management teams to strategize the growth of the research practice including recommending operational maturity models and budget; managed the user research business budget and collaboration with the wider TELUS Service Design team.

• Mentored 4 junior product designers in the Microsoft Garage Program which included providing guidance in design thinking, product design, user research, agile methodology, the product lifecycle, working in product teams and soft skills such as communication, navigating team dynamics and business culture and complexities.

• Research, testing, design and strategy for the portal for Finning International’s customers; learning and understanding of a complex industry around construction and equipment so as to effectively design features to meet customer needs.
• Refinement and organization of the Finning Design System including development of strategic lenses of the design system beyond interface components and including guidelines for UX, page and content patterns.

• Research, testing, information architecture, strategy, user experience and interface/visual design for complex omnichannel experiences.
• Involved in highly strategic, complex and collaborative projects that must consider customers, business requirements, technology, physical infrastructure, scalability and the product lifecycle including Canada’s first e-commerce experience to purchase and manage internet products online and refining the ecommerce experience for the Smart Homes Technology product line

• Facilitated and led client meetings and design reviews and led the initial strategy and design for the award-winning City of Richmond Citizen Portal

• Multi-disciplinary consulting on user experience including strategy, user research and analysis, information architecture, testing, user experience, user interface, visual design and mentoring.
• Currently mentoring a junior designer in user experience strategy and career development.

Why so much contract, freelance and consultancy work?

This is a question I get a lot! For the majority of my career in the tech sector, I also worked part-time as a professional circus artist. This style of working allowed me to have the flexibility I needed in order to meet the demands and lifestyle of both careers.
